This transfer of ownership is effective when the order has been paid for and the good(s) have been delivered.
When the buyer takes possession of his order, he also regains responsibility in the event of damage or loss.
It is therefore particularly important to control the risks involved in delivery.
The delivery note is the document that formalizes the delivery of an order. 
What is a delivery note?
The delivery note is a document describing the precise contents of a delivery:
- It formalizes the transfer of ownership of the goods from the seller to the buyer.
- The delivery note can be in paper format or in electronic form.
- It is accompanied by the invoice enabling payment of the order to be demanded.
What information must be included on a delivery note?
The sales slip must clearly identify the seller, or the company in the case of a professional.
This same information must also appear on the associated invoice.
Each product or service delivered must be described in detail.
The quantities of the various products must also be indicated.
Finally, the delivery date must be clearly indicated on the delivery note.
The customer must be able to use the delivery note to check that the parcel received contains the entire initial order.
An area must be reserved on the delivery note for the customer’s signature upon receipt of the parcel.
It is not compulsory to sign for a parcel on receipt.
In practice, it is not systematically required.
However, if the seller has to prove that the buyer has received his order, it can be complicated without the customer’s signature.
How do I manage a packing slip with Prestashop?
The delivery note is generated in order management.
The functionality is native and follows the same process as for invoice generation.
A number of options are available.
In particular, delivery notes can be given a prefix (“FR”, “EN”, “SP”… for example, to indicate the country of delivery).
Voucher numbering can be customized, and a thumbnail image of each product can be added.
The delivery note generated by Prestashop will also include the company logo and buyer information.
It is possible to add other information, such as the weight of the parcel.
However, to use specific information other than the basic options, you may need to modify the Prestashop template files linked to the delivery notes.
The delivery note can then be generated in PDF format and printed.
The paper version will be attached to the order when it is shipped.
