Prestashop is an e-commerce software that makes it easy to launch your website or online store.
Migration to Prestashop is an essential step, not only for putting a site online, but also for backing it up on a computer or redirecting it to another server.
This software is very easy to use for migrations, which can be carried out in just a few steps.
However, you need to have a good command of computer tools and be able to follow the steps.
Database backup
Like WordPress, you can retrieve the Prestashop database from your computer by entering the local URL.
Depending on your type of computer, you’ll be presented with a specific software presentation page.
Go to PhpMyAdmin to retrieve your database.
Click on the database menu and then on the name of your database.
You can also click on its name in the sidebar on the left of the interface.
This is the heart of your site.
This is where all your non-media data is stored.
Check that all tables are correctly selected, then below this field, remember to compress your database.
Once these steps have been completed, your database downloads automatically and you can ship it wherever you like.
Backing up and sending files to remote servers
To back up your files, there’s a very simple method in htdocs.
You can upload your files online.
However, it is advisable to multiply the files and save them on your computer.
To send your files to a remote server, you can use drag-and-drop software.
Editing the setting.inc.php file
To edit the file, simply go to the prestashop/config folder and enter your database connection information.
After this step, do not save any changes you have made.
If you have prestashop 1.7, the configuration data has been modified.
You’ll now find the files in app/config/parameter.yml
Database import
Depending on the PhpMyAdmin set up by your hosting provider, you can then import your database.
To do this, click on the export button on the page.
Your document will be imported automatically.
If this fails, try again, this time taking care not to compress your database.
Depending on your version of PhpMyAdmin, compressions can sometimes cause problems during prestashop server migration.
Your import is now complete!
Modifying links
The last step in this process is to modify the link.
To do this, simply go directly to your database.
Migration complete!
You can now admire the fruits of your labour.
